Sizing & Fit
Do Sarah Flint shoes run small, large, or true to size?
Sarah Flint shoes fit true to standard Italian and European sizing. If you typically shop in US sizing, we recommend referencing our size conversion chart before placing your order.
How should Sarah Flint shoes fit when I first try them on?
When you first try on Sarah Flint shoes, they should feel secure and slightly snug across the width. Because our shoes are crafted from high-quality, natural materials like suede and calf leather, the upper will gently soften and adapt to your foot with wear.
When assessing fit:
- Your heel should feel stable with minimal slipping.
- Your toe box should feel snug but not painfully tight. That snugness will ease with wear.
- The most important factor is correct length. It is best not to size up to get more room in the toe box. Shoes will always give in width over time. They will never give in length. Sizing up causes your foot to slide forward, shifts your weight off balance, and can cause heel slippage and blisters.
Is some toe pressure normal in pointed-toe shoes?
A small amount of initial toe pressure can be normal in refined pointed-toe shoes. High-quality leather and suede will relax slightly with wear, allowing the shoe to adapt more comfortably to your foot shape. Strong or sharp pressure may indicate the need to try a different size.
How do I know if my Sarah Flint shoes are too big?
Shoes are too large if your heel is not secure and moves around in the shoe. Excess length can cause increased pressure at the toes and reduce overall support. A secure heel and balanced stance are the key indicators of proper fit.
How do I know if my Sarah Flint shoes are too small?
Shoes may be too small if you feel firm pressure at the back of the heel, tightly crowded toes, or strong constriction across the width. A properly fitting shoe should feel stable and comfortable when standing, with your toes having a little room to settle.
Why is it recommended to choose Sarah Flint shoes that feel slightly snug at first?
Sarah Flint shoes are crafted from natural materials that stretch a bit in width. Starting with a slightly close fit helps the shoe become more personalized over time rather than getting too loose.
Do Sarah Flint shoes stretch or break in over time?
Sarah Flint shoes soften as natural materials adapt to your foot with wear. Structured styles like pointed-toe flats or pumps may feel firm at first and benefit from one to three shorter wears. Some designs, including the Perfect Ballet Flat, typically require little to no break-in period.
Do different materials fit differently?
Yes. Suede typically softens more quickly, while calf leather and structured fabrics relax more gradually. Flexible materials such as mesh or raffia may feel comfortable from the first wear.
How important is length when determining fit?
Length is the most important factor in achieving proper comfort and support. Your toes should not feel crowded or firmly pressed against the front of the shoe. When standing, your foot should feel balanced, stable, and well supported.
I have a wider forefoot but a narrow heel. My heel often slips out of my shoes. What should I do?
This is a very common fit challenge, and it is usually a sizing issue rather than an incompatibility with the shoe. Many customers size up to create more room across the front of the foot, but this can make the shoe too long. When a shoe is too long, the foot slides forward and the heel begins to slip.
Because leather softens in width but does not change in length, it is best to choose the size that fits your foot length correctly and allow the width to adapt with wear. If additional room is needed through the forefoot of the shoe, a trusted cobbler can often perform a gentle stretch while preserving the structure of the shoe.
Can luxury leather shoes be professionally stretched?
If the shoe length feels correct but the width feels slightly snug after wearing them in, a professional cobbler can often stretch luxury leather shoes gently to create additional comfort. It is best to wear the shoes first to allow natural softening before pursuing professional stretching.
What size scarf is best with the revisible scarf belt?
We recommend a 90cm scarf.
Comfort & All-Day Wear
Are Sarah Flint shoes comfortable for all-day wear?
Most Sarah Flint shoes are built around our Perfect Features: contoured arch support, extra footbed padding, a non-slip rubber sole, and, for heels, a perfectly balanced heel placement that distributes weight evenly. These features work together to support natural alignment and stability through a full day of wear.
Many customers wear Sarah Flint styles for full workdays, travel, and events that require extended standing or walking. As the natural materials soften and adapt to your foot, comfort often improves further with wear.
I can never find heels that feel comfortable. Will I be able to wear Sarah Flint heels all day?
Sarah Flint heels are built differently than traditional luxury shoes. Arch support, extra footbed padding, a non-slip rubber outsole, and a perfectly balanced heel placement that distributes your weight more evenly. Together, these make for a very different experience than what you will find in typical luxury heels.
Most luxury heels have extremely narrow toe boxes. Sarah Flint Perfect Pumps feature an expanded toe box, disguised by a V-shaped vamp that maintains the sleek, elegant silhouette you expect from a luxury heel.
Customers tell us our heels feel noticeably different from the first wear. That said, comfort is always personal. A high heel is still an elevated silhouette, so choosing a height you already feel confident wearing is important. If you are working your way back up, our mid-heel styles are a great place to start.
Style Recommendations
I'm just getting back into heels. Where should I start?
The Perfect Round Toe Pump is the style we recommend most for customers easing back into heels. The round toe gives your foot more natural room than a pointed silhouette, the block heel provides a stable, grounded base, and the heel height is manageable. Combined with our Perfect features, including arch support, extra footbed padding, and a perfectly balanced heel, it is designed to feel more like a supportive shoe than a traditional pump.
What are your best shoes for a wedding or special event?
Event shoes are one of the things customers come to us for most, because our Perfect features mean you can actually wear them through a ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner without taking them off. Top recommendations:
- Perfect Block Sandal (three heel heights, ideal for outdoor weddings, block heel will not sink into grass, clean single-strap front).
- Perfect Crossover 50 and Perfect Crossover Platform 80 (extra height without extreme foot angle, strap crosses bridge of foot, strategic cutouts keep it breathable).
- Perfect Aziza (the look of a stiletto with better wearability, super-soft pleated nappa front gentle on foot through hours of dancing).
What are your best shoes for travel?
Our top travel styles, each built for versatility and comfort across long days:
- Alysia Sneaker (the look of a loafer with the comfort of a sneaker, great for long days on foot, transitions from sightseeing to dinner).
- Perfect Ballet Flat (full Perfect features including arch support and extra footbed padding, packs flat, works with everything).
- Alexandra Boot 50 (the ultimate packable tall boot, folds down to fit in a carry-on, versatile heel height, refined enough for dinner).
What are your best styles for wide feet or bunions?
Wide feet and bunions both call for styles with forgiving shapes, softer materials, and construction that does not press on sensitive areas. Top recommendations:
- Perfect Ballet Flat (round toe, soft materials, full Perfect Features).
- Perfect Round Toe Pump (round toe silhouette creates natural room across the forefoot).
- Rosie (almond toe with a slight lift and very soft suede, meaningful difference for forefoot sensitivity).
- Perfect Erika 30 and 60 (hand-tied soft knots that move with the foot, nothing rigid pressing against a bunion, hides the appearance of a bunion while staying comfortable).
- Perfect Crossover 50 and Perfect Crossover Platform 80 (more coverage with strategic cutouts, breathable and soft, no pressure on sensitive areas).
Inventory, Availability & Preorders
Will a sold-out style be restocked?
Core styles and signature colors are restocked regularly based on demand. Seasonal designs or limited colorways may be produced in smaller quantities and are less likely to return. Joining the waitlist is the most reliable way to be notified. If you would like to see a style return that does not currently have a waitlist option, please email support@sarahflint.com. We track customer interest and it genuinely influences our restocking decisions.
What does it mean if my size shows a waitlist?
A waitlist means the style is expected to be restocked. Customers who join will be notified as soon as inventory becomes available. If a size shows Sold Out without a waitlist option, it is less likely to return, though reaching out to our team is always worthwhile.
How quickly do popular sizes sell out?
Certain sizes and signature styles can move quickly, particularly around new launches. If you know your size, purchasing early or joining the waitlist gives you the best chance of getting the style you want.
What is a preorder?
Pre-order styles are available to purchase before they are in stock. We will ship your order as soon as inventory arrives. Pre-order styles are not eligible for promotions or discount codes. The 21-day return window begins on the date your order ships, so you will have the full window once your shoes arrive.
When will my preorder ship?
Estimated ship dates are noted on the product page at the time of purchase. We will send a shipping confirmation with tracking as soon as your order is on its way. You can also always reach us at support@sarahflint.com with any questions.
Can I cancel a preorder?
Yes. If you need to cancel a preorder, please contact us at support@sarahflint.com and our team will take care of it for you.
Care & Storage
How should I care for my Sarah Flint shoes?
Proper care extends the life of the shoes and keeps materials looking beautiful. Basic guidance by material:
- Calf leather: wipe clean with a soft damp cloth, condition periodically, avoid prolonged water exposure.
- Suede: brush with a suede brush after wear, use a protector spray before first wear, keep away from moisture, store in dust bag.
- Raffia and woven styles: handle gently, avoid water, store flat in the dust bag to preserve shape.
- For hand embroidered or beaded styles reach out to support@sarahflint.com.
How should I store my Sarah Flint shoes?
Store shoes in the dust bags provided, in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight. For structured styles, a shoe tree or light tissue paper stuffing helps preserve the shape. Avoid stacking or compressing shoes in a way that distorts the toe or heel.
