Sarah Flint and the American Ballet Theatre created a limited edition shoe to benefit female choreographers.
New York luxury footwear designer—and favorite of Meghan Markle—Sarah Flint, has teamed up with the American Ballet Theatre and the America's National Ballet Company to create a special edition of her Sachetto ballet flat. All of the net proceeds from the shoe will benefit the ABT's Women Movement, an initiative that supports the exploration and staging of new works and shows by female choreographers. The new Sacchetto Ballet Flat is made from soft nappa leather and references a classic pointe shoe with a square toe and tonal satin tip.
“As a longtime lover of the ballet, it has been a dream come true to work with such an iconic institution like American Ballet Theatre. Although we operate in different mediums, we both believe in the creation, presentation, and preservation of true beauty, which has been a through line in our partnership,” Sarah Flint shared in a statement.
This collaboration is especially effective now, as we approach the one year mark of essentially no live productions. While theaters are getting creative to keep their teams working, many dancers and theater workers find themselves without options. Sarah Flint’s special edition flat raises awareness for the ABT, and hopefully can bring in some much-needed help. It doesn’t hurt that this new edition is in a super flattering hue and is this spring’s practical alternative to a kitten heel—it will look equally great with jeans and a t-shirt as it will with a pretty sundress.
We can't wait to bring out our inner ballerina and celebrate female artists in these Sarah Flint flats.
