Kristen Stewart Breaks the Cannes Red Carpet Rules (Again) With Surprisingly Chic Results

By now Kristen Stewart’s status as a red carpet rule breaker is the stuff of legend. As someone who has broken the Cannes no flats rule, arrived at a premiere with a freshly shaved head, and found a million new ways to wear deconstructed denim, Stewart is used to doing her own thing and today at the annual amfAR gala she did just that. With the dress code for the event leaning towards slinky sexiness or overwrought glamour, guests tend to pull out revealing couture, but Stewart kept things cool. Selecting a striped number from Chanel’s Resort 2019 collection, the actress took a modern approach to the nautical trend. The look was a whimsical choice—tea length, covered in sparkles, with criss-crossing bands covering its bodice. Adding on a Chanel onyx and diamond cuff and a pair of black Louboutins, Stewart upped the room’s it factor by a mile.

If selecting arguably the best look from Karl Lagerfeld’s latest collection wasn’t enough excitement for one day, Stewart and stylist Tara Swennen had yet another great outfit up their sleeves. She continued her jury duties with style, turning up at the premiere of Couteau Dans Le Couer in a midriff-baring suit and glossy leather pants. With a long black overcoat, Nehru collar white blouse held together by a single button, and great pair of Sarah Flint loafers, Stewart borrowed from the boys and pulled it off the way only she can.
